Experience to date indicates that atrioventricular block, occurring in an apparently healthy person, is not necessarily of great clinical significance. Papers read before this Association in 1952 and again in 1964 described the AV block findings in the University of Manitoba Follow-up Study, and the results were consistent with the above experience. Because of the relatively young age of this group at onset and the likelihood of greater morbidity and mortality as the cohort aged, it is appropriate to re-examine this issue after a further 13 years.
